BGMEA’s new board officially takes charge
The newly elected board of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has officially taken charge from the outgoing committee on Tuesday, April 13 in Dhaka.
Faruque Hassan, Managing Director of Giant Group, has taken over as the new President of the BGMEA for the 2021-23 tenure.
The elected board of Directors also selected seven other Vice Presidents. They are: Syed Nazrul Islam, Well Designers Ltd (Chattogram); SM Mannan Kochi, Seha Design (BD) Ltd; Md Shahidullah Azim, Classic Fashion Concept Ltd; Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Designtex knitwear Ltd; Miran Ali, Misami Garments Ltd; Md Nasir Uddin, Sadma Fashion Wear Ltd; and Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, HKC Apparels Ltd (Chattogram).
“As soon as we took charge, we told factory owners to ensure COVID-19 health guidelines in the factories. Apart from this, we have also instructed the officials so that the members do not face any problem in getting the services from BGMEA,” said Faruque Hassan.
Faruque Hassan’s panel Sammilita Parishad bagged 24 out of 35 Directors’ posts in the BGMEA election that was held on April 4, while the remaining 11 Director posts were elected from the Forum panel, led by the Chairman of Hannan Group and a former Vice-President of BGMEA ABM Shamsuddin.
